Middlemash (sponsored by Ex Libris UK Ltd)

Middlemash was held at Birmingham City University on 30th November 2009. For more details see the #Middlemash blog.

Mashed Library UK 2009 (sponsored by Talis)

Mashed Library UK 2009 ("Mash Oop North!") took place at the University of Huddersfield on Tuesday July 7th. Please use this forum to discuss the event

Videos from the opening sessions are slowly appearing online.

The primary sponsors of "Mash Oop North" were Talis and they made sure the delegates didn't faint from lack of nourishment at the event :-)

If you'd like to learn more about the delegates, keep an eye on this series of blog posts. The plan is to have a "blog chat" with all 70 delegates!

As well as Ning, there's also a blog for the event @ mashlib09.wordpress.com. The tag for the event was mashlib09 (or #mashlib09 for tweets).

Mashed Library is about "bringing together interested people and doing interesting stuff with libraries and technology".

Mashed Libraries UK 2008

Mashed Libraries UK 2008 took place on the 27th November 2008 at Birkbeck College, London.

You can see photos from the event at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/mashlib08/, and there are a number of write-ups from attendees, including:

I'll add more as I'm aware of them.

There is also a write up available from the organiser (he may be biased) - which may contain some useful thoughts for anyone wanting to organise a similar event in the future.

Library Journal has a piece (thanks to Roy Tennant, who provided some advice/pointers before the event), and FRBR.org (William Denton) also mentions it.

Finally, you might enjoy this video:

The tag for the event was mashlib08 if you want to search for posts, tweets, photos etc.

With 30 years of close engagement with libraries, UKOLN was pleased to sponsor Mashed Libraries UK 2008.

Haggis and Mash, Scotland

Following a link from LIS-WEB2 to the mashed library wiki, I see there is a mash-up tentatively planned for Easter in Scotland. Does anyone have any more details about it?

Clinton, Bush say saving lives is top goal in Haiti

Getting aid to Haiti right away to save lives is the first goal of the fund-raising initiative headed by George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, the two former U.S. presidents say.
In a pre-recorded interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Bush and Clinton said the new fund created by President Barack Obama also seeks to ensure that money keeps coming in after the news… Continue

Google Embraces Partners to Straddle Desktop-Cloud Divide

Google has unveiled plans today to allow Google Docs to store any type of files, and revealed a new tool from Memeo to enable users to access, migrate, and synchronize files between their desktop and Google Docs. These announcements signify a broader strategy by Google to help business customers bridge the gap between the desktop and the cloud.
Google has been aggressively vying for… Continue

La Pinzochera: ancient books catalogs and... data governance fun

In the last week I have applied for a post of cataloguer of ancient books and for another one of "project manager data governance". Although their job descriptions use complete different language and they refer to different set of rules, standards, practices, I see they share many similarities and I would like to have the time for writing a sort of... mapping between the two.

Anyway, here are some notes... just for fun, with regard to one aspect of the data governance game: the transparency abo… Continue

Related on library2.0 ning

I added a post yesterday to the library20.ning about the usefulness of Twitter hashtags. It has a bit of a crossover with Mashedlibrary.
