Middlemash (sponsored by Ex Libris UK Ltd)

The next Mashed Library UK event will be Middlemash to be held at Birmingham City University on 30th November 2009. For more details see the #Middlemash blog.

You can register online for the event. Spaces are limited, so you might need to be quick!

Mashed Library UK 2009 (sponsored by Talis)

Mashed Library UK 2009 ("Mash Oop North!") took place at the University of Huddersfield on Tuesday July 7th. Please use this forum to discuss the event

Videos from the opening sessions are slowly appearing online.

The primary sponsors of "Mash Oop North" were Talis and they made sure the delegates didn't faint from lack of nourishment at the event :-)

If you'd like to learn more about the delegates, keep an eye on this series of blog posts. The plan is to have a "blog chat" with all 70 delegates!

As well as Ning, there's also a blog for the event @ mashlib09.wordpress.com. The tag for the event was mashlib09 (or #mashlib09 for tweets).

Mashed Library is about "bringing together interested people and doing interesting stuff with libraries and technology".

Mashed Libraries UK 2008

Mashed Libraries UK 2008 took place on the 27th November 2008 at Birkbeck College, London.

You can see photos from the event at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/mashlib08/, and there are a number of write-ups from attendees, including:

I'll add more as I'm aware of them.

There is also a write up available from the organiser (he may be biased) - which may contain some useful thoughts for anyone wanting to organise a similar event in the future.

Library Journal has a piece (thanks to Roy Tennant, who provided some advice/pointers before the event), and FRBR.org (William Denton) also mentions it.

Finally, you might enjoy this video:

The tag for the event was mashlib08 if you want to search for posts, tweets, photos etc.

With 30 years of close engagement with libraries, UKOLN was pleased to sponsor Mashed Libraries UK 2008.

Libraries and Web2.0 Wiki

I don't think mentioning this in the discussion forum would be the right place for it, as it's not 100% mashed library (but is related to it)... but you may be interested in the librariesandweb2.wetpaint.com wiki , which has been created by a group of Librarians in Southern England and any other willing contributers. It's not as tech-minded as mashedlibrary and has a different slant to things, but may or may not be of interest t… Continue

The History of Health Care

With the debates going on in Washington, it might be really interesting to look back on the history of Short term health and Medical insurance in the US. When was insurance first introduced and why? What was the goal and thinking behind it? Why did it split into special branches for dental and vision? I think underst… Continue

Remixing Data at ELAG (European Library Automation Group)

This didn't seem to fit into the Useful URLs bucket, but is an interesting blogpost from Metalogue covering some developments elsewhere in Europe http://community.oclc.org/metalogue/archives/2009/05/remixing-data-at-elag.html
