mashed library

mashing up libraries since 2008

No point in trying to list all the web services out there, but thought it worth noting what *we* have that I/we could play with (note: not suggesting we use any/all of these, just putting them down as options!)

* Talis Alto (LMS) - we also have Keystone, send a borrower number (as XML), get an account summary and single sign URL back (also as XML).

* SFX - has some APIs, never played with them

* Metalib (but not X server).

* eprints : should be version 3.1 by the time we meet up, which should support SWORD etc.

* Current OPAC: Talis Prism 2 : not very exciting.

* By the time you read this:
** We should have Aquabrowser! (I think this is the first public mention of this) as well as looking cool, this supports SRU and other stuff
** We should/may have Prism 3, again, should have more APIs and standards that currently OPAC

* May be a beta site for the next version of Talislist (Talis Project Zephyr). This plans to allow the data held within to be reused, and is being designed so it is easy to integrate with other applications

* Finally, we have LOCKSS

Just to add my own content-free website has a few bits as well. Including a Moodle installation unused (and free for use if anyone wants it, I can easily create user accounts).

Also a while a go I played with the Talis Platform. Have to confess in the end I used the Talis Cenote code as a starting point, so what I ended up with is not a million miles from Cenote, plus a few bits are currently broken! You can see the website here, you can download all the code as a tar.gz here (and a somewhat unrelated commentary about how I got started with the Talis Platform, before understanding what it was, here).

Hi Chris,

on the IGeLU meeting in Madrid, ExLibris announced that the MetaLib X-Server is no longer subject to license but should become free available. The recommendation of Karen Groves (MetaLib product manager) was to get in contact with your local ExLibris office to request the corresponding license key.

Hope that works & greetings from Munich,
inga
